However, it is not an album filled with your traditional Christmas songs. Instead, it contains a mix of original pieces that express holiday cheer through a tranquil mixing of Western and Eastern sounds. "Seasons's Greetings" is a placid and calming song with beautiful harp playing that comes off as a holiday number, even though it is not one you would have known before. "Tranquil Mood" is a wonderful piano piece featuring playing that evokes the full range of the instrument. "Back to Childhood" is a song that mixes Eastern and Western influences in its use of violin, beautifully telling a wordless story through melody alone. Manjia Luo's "Season's Greetings" explores the quieter and more peaceful side of holiday-inspired music with grace and delicacy. It's perfect for those who enjoy new-age relaxation music, or for those who would like excellent background music for a warm winter's get-together.

-Sean B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Manjia Luo's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-669853368212976650.post-14813672519697529192009-12-20T15:05:00.001-08:002009-12-20T15:05:17.722-08:00"Me and Mrs. Jones" by Tony Ocean (Easy Listening Artist from Illinois(IL))

Tony Ocean doles out skill and passion with his new CD, "Me and Mrs. Jones." While his cover of the Billy Paul classic is well done and worthy of being a title track, the Robbie Robertson-penned "Out of the Blue" provides Ocean with the perfect canvas for the kind of deep and soulful delivery the song demands. This album stays nothing but smooth throughout, but still holds some edge and emotion with Ocean's strong vocals. "Someone Like You" has all the elements this album is about: passion, beautiful piano, and catchy melodies. Another gem is the last track, "Be Honest," a duet with a female singer. Tony Ocean's fine CD, "Me and Mrs. Jones," is easy listening anyone can enjoy.

-Matt M. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Tony Ocean 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-669853368212976650.post-80022086596649591542009-12-09T19:59:00.001-08:002009-12-09T19:59:06.858-08:00"The Song Begins..." by Casey Erin Clark (Easy Listening Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

What makes "The Song Begins..." such a great CD of American show tune-inspired music is the realization Casey Erin Clark had as much fun recording it as we do listening to it. With a voice redolent of the Broadway vernacular, it should come as no surprise that she is working in theater in New York, even starring in a few Off-Broadway shows. Some tracks are even showcases of brand new songs from rising composers. On the CD-opener, "Real New Yorker Now," Clark blows you away with her strong, pitch perfect voice. "Murder! He Says" is another vocal highlight, a terrific jazz trio number with bounce and melody. But what's most important is staying passionate and entertaining, and that is really what Casey Erin Clark's "The Song Begins..." CD accomplishes.

-Matt M. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Casey Erin Clark's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-669853368212976650.post-71556929190129856622009-12-02T18:30:00.001-08:002009-12-02T18:30:45.761-08:00"Still" by Jordan Bluth (Holiday/Easy Listening Artist from Arizona(AZ))

The first thing you will notice about Jordan Bluth's new Christmas CD, "Still," is the singer's powerful vocals. Bluth is obviously classically trained and is beyond comfortable in his wide baritone range. Classics like "I'll Be Home For Christmas" are sung with such power it reminds you how these songs became classics in the first place. The instrumentation and arrangements are also notably rich and complex. The album features a wide range of strings, piano, and other orchestral instruments. His voice plays especially well with the strings on "What Child Is This." "Still" puts great emotion back into holiday songs we hear year after year, and we have Jorden Bluth and his fine Christmas CD to thank for that.

-Matt M. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Jordan Bluth's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-669853368212976650.post-92006998616997118432009-10-21T18:13:00.001-07:002009-10-21T18:13:34.256-07:00"Venice Sci-fi" by Ari Dane (Easy Listening Artist from Los Angeles, California(CA))

Like nothing you've ever heard before, Ari Dane will surprise you with his latest album, "Venice Sci-fi." Dane sings with a classic baritone voice that is well balanced and is heard over clean and crisp sounds that are created and layered one track at a time. He touches on island beats, lounge, 80's rap, and big band styles, while keeping his sci-fi tonality undertone. His old style vocals are highlighted on "The Bartender's Point of View" while offering some lyrics that are quite entertaining. The title track "Venice Sci-fi" is aptly named since it sounds like 1950's style green aliens have landed in Italy and started writing music. The album is also splattered with instrumental tracks to give his voice a break. If you're interested in hearing something completely unique, and love the low crooning of a lounge singer, Ari Dane and his album, "Venice Sci-fi" is just for you.

-Matt M. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Ari Dane's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-669853368212976650.post-61780180407065793442009-10-17T19:40:00.001-07:002009-10-17T19:40:21.003-07:00Check out Tey, one of RadioIndy's favorite Easy Listening artistsRadioindy Artist Spotlight for Tey

Band Name: Tey
Band Location: Illinois Chicago
Sounds Like: Sade, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, Barbara Streisand, Mary J. With a sound anchored deep in '70's soft-rock waters, Cherry's smooth-as-sand-pebble voice is right at home on light and breezy R&B like pop songs of love and romance, and the channels our emotions navigate. The CD opener, "Sweet Honey" has all the earmarks, with its accented guitar fills and funky bass style. Further along, such '70's stalwarts as Michael Franks and Al Jarreau are convincingly conjured on tunes like "Driving to Lahaina" and "I Believe in Me" as Cherry and Friends mirror R&B / contemporary jazz veins of inspiration. "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" captures the milieu of the '70s era in a re-styling of the Creedence Clearwater hit, while the tender treatment accorded "Fool Such As I" shows Cherry at his relaxed best. Showing more adventurousness, Cherry re-works Dylan's "Watchtower" in a jazzy, funk-bottomed rendition that's fresh and respectful. Filled with hopefulness and affirmation, Tom Cherry and Friends' "What You Talkin' About" CD captures the mood and sound of another era to perfection, making it, in the process, a fine collection of Adult Contemporary pop for today's audience.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Tom Cherry and Friends's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-669853368212976650.post-778399661166581832009-10-03T17:11:00.001-07:002009-10-03T17:11:52.680-07:00"Prove Me Wrong" by Nancy Casteele (Adult Contemporary Artist from Nashville, Tennessee(TN))

"Prove Me Wrong" by Nancy Casteele is an outstanding record for adult contemporary music lovers. The strong instrumentation comprised of guitars, piano, organ, and percussion accentuate and compliment Nancy's fresh voice. While the songs display varied tempos and pleasant melodies, the gritty, piercing lyrics express triumph over failed romantic experiences, strength and self-confidence. The solid backing vocals on the track "A Beautiful Shame" nicely lay behind Nancy's powerful lead vocals, while the catchy chorus adds a strong kick to the song. The trance-like title track "Prove Me Wrong" speaks of personal growth with vocals reminiscent of the classy Jazz singers of the 40's paired with a slick, modern electric guitar. If you enjoy gutsy, passionate vocals backed by a talented band, then this CD would make an excellent addition to your playlist.

-Trent C. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Nancy Casteele 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-669853368212976650.post-79981582451547598042009-09-15T21:24:00.001-07:002009-09-15T21:24:50.202-07:00"Wind" by Carmen Tosca (Easy Listening Artist from South Africa)

The relaxed and well orchestrated instrumental production of, "Wind" by Carmen Tosca, is comprised of wonderful contemporary/easy listening compilations. Tosca's well written compositions mingle gracefully around various instruments creating a beautiful blend of songs with New Age style. Splendid sound textures abound on "New life" as the piano enters the score with crisp and clean clarity. The percussion moves with steady and solid support on "Emma" while the strings glide with sweet and melodic tonality. "Slow Motion" breathes with soft, subtle guitar while the rich strings add color to the melodic melody. The beautiful ballad, "Waves" embraces a gently rolling piano lead as the strings bring to life a soft and soothing vibe. The soft rock moniker eventually gave way to adult contemporary but the aesthetic remained the same. "Ultimate I & B," a veritable "best of" CD (compiled from 3 previous albums) by Zhonray is a fine example of this genre, reminding listeners of adult contemporary finest practitioners (Air Supply, Seals & Crofts, America, etc) without losing its own identity. Lush synthesizer flourishes on "In the Shadow of Fallen Love," while Zhonray delivers spare and tasteful guitar fills such as the Spanish guitar runs on "Golden Sands." Take note of the subtle conga interpolations on "Blossom Hill," or relax to the sounds of nature on "Summer Rain," or even a hint of Chris Isaaks-like tremolo guitar "Shine Your Smile on Me." Zhonray swathes its sedate tunes of the trials and triumphs of love and romance on their "Ultimate I & B" CD in arrangements that go down like the proverbial taste of honey.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Zhonray's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.com0
